Process of Creating Water Hyacinth Handicrafts.

Harvesting Water Hyacinth

Cut the water hyacinth stem, remove the leaves, and choose mature plants over 30 cm for weaving. Prepare tools like wood, saws, hammers, nails, fabric, clamps, scissors, brushes, glue, sewing machines, and varnish.

Drying Water Hyacinth

Dry the stems under sunlight for about a week until fully dry. Turn regularly, keep away from rain to prevent mold, then collect for crafting.

Preparing the Model

Choose a craft model and make a wooden mold in the desired size and shape.

Weaving Water Hyacinth

Flatten the stems with a bamboo clamp, trim the ends, and weave them into products or ropes.

Finishing

Apply glue midway to strengthen the weave, remove it from the mold when finished, coat with varnish for a polished look, dry for 15 minutes, then add accessories.
